FAQ
Questions people ask before applying
Straight answers about pay, experience and what this site does with your email.
Is TranscriptionTrail free to use?
Yes. Browsing every listing and joining the daily email alerts costs nothing. We earn from affiliate links and our paid guide.
Do I need experience or a certificate?
Not for general transcription or AI transcript editing. Legal and medical work usually expect terminology knowledge, and some employers prefer certification.
How much can I realistically earn?
Entry-level AI transcript editing runs roughly $16–24 an hour. Experienced legal and medical transcriptionists bill $26–35 per audio hour. An audio hour takes most people three to four working hours early on.
How often are listings added?
Most mornings. Every card shows how many days ago it was posted, so you always know how fresh a role is.
Do you post the jobs yourself?
No. We collect openings from companies that hire remote transcriptionists and link you straight to their application.
What equipment do I need to start?
A reliable computer, a closed-back headset and a quiet room. A foot pedal and text expander speed you up later.
Are these jobs available outside the US?
Some are. Several companies in our directory accept international applicants; individual listings note location requirements where they apply.
